Based on a research project entitled “Happy in Berlin? English Authors in the City, the 1920s and Beyond”, Gesa Stedman has begun a series of zines focusing on British women writers in Berlin. Quotations from letters, diaries, or memoirs from these early-20th-century writers provide the textual basis, and original black and white drawings by Gesa Stedman are then layouted by Liam Stedman to produce a series of zines. Alix Strachey in Berlin, 1924-1925 was the first, which Gesa presented at the art book fair in Berlin in November 2025, to be followed next by Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West in Berlin. The series will comprise 6-8 individual zines, collected in a box.
